Morningside School

Morningside School Enrolment Zone:-

Within the home zone described below (map available at the school office) all students who live there shall be entitled to enroll at Morningside School.

Along State Highway 1 traveling North, at the intersection with South End Avenue the zone begins, and until it reaches Central Avenue continues North (all properties on the right-hand-side in the zone).

Along Central Avenue (both sides of Central Avenue and any no-exit roads coming off it are included in the zone) it then travels East, Walton Street, and Quayside (only properties on the Southern side of the roads are included in the zone) until it reaches Hātea River.

South down Hātea River, the zone travels (on the Western side in the zone all properties), turns West, and travels up Limeburner's Creek, and then links in with the Eastern end of South End Avenue (all properties to the North including) overland.

Along South End Avenue (all properties on the Northern side included) it continues until it reaches SH1.

In the home zone proof of residence will be required.

• In-Zone Enrolments
• Please visit the school office and fill out an enrolment form for an in-zone enrolment.
• You will need to bring with you:
• 1. Proof of your residential address*.
• 2. Your child's birth certificate or passport, which we will photocopy*.
• 3. Immunization Records*.
• 4. B4SC Records (Before School Checks).
• 5. Vision and hearing or speech records.
• 6. Medication information including allergy records and action plans.
• *Into a class no child will be placed until these documents have been received.
• Out of Zone Enrolments
• In 2024 for out of zone students the Morningside School Board of Trustees has determined that there will be four enrolment periods coinciding with each school term.
• For receiving out of zone applications for each school term the deadlines will be:
• 1. October 11, 2023 for Term 1, 2024.
• 2. March 8, 2024 for Term 2.
• 3. June 7, 2024 for Term 3.
• 4. August 30, 2024 for Term 4.
• Prior to these deadlines the number of places (if any) the Board of Trustees will determine and publish that for out of zone students are available at various class levels.
• Current out of zone places available:
• Year 0 - 3 places, Year 1 - 2 places, Year 2,3,4,5,6 - no places.
• In the following order of priority the applications for enrolments will be processed:
• 1. At this school this priority is not applicable, because a special program approved by the Secretary for Education the school does not run.
• 2. Siblings of current students.
• 3. Siblings of former students.
• 4. Children of former students.
• 5. Children of Board employees.
• 6. All other applicants.
• If in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups there are more applicants than there are places available, within the priority group selection must be by ballot in accordance conducted with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. By notice in a daily or community newsletter the parents will be informed of the date of any ballot circulating in the area served by the school.
• Second or third priority status the applicants seeking will be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
