Six years after the Education Act was passed into law, in 1878, Schnapper Point School No. 567 closed and Mornington School No. 2033 was established. Richard Hutchinson, the school's headmaster, was certified to instruct in gymnastics and military drill. Inspector Main at the time characterised him as "... a man of gentlemanly deportment and a careful teacher." This marked the start of what is now Mornington Primary School, which many residents still refer to as Vale Street. Since then, Mornington Primary School has provided services to the nearby community. 134 years later, in 2012, Mornington Primary School became an International Baccalaureate World School, marking a major turning point in the school's history. Due to international treaties and increased economic interconnectedness, the children are growing up in a time of global perspectives. The majority of their kids will most likely travel abroad for work or leisure. Being an IB World School and cultivating a more global perspective will provide our kids with the foundation they require to become productive global citizens.
The vision at Mornington Primary School is a reflection of their conviction that their kids will be well-equipped to succeed and face life's problems if they inculcate the right values, encourage the growth of positive traits, and provide them opportunity to acquire the necessary skills. They believe that every student has the capacity to improve the world, so they encourage them to contribute positively to their school, family, communities, and environment.
