Oamaru, New Zealand educator Florence Emily Green, who was strongly religious, started NEGS in 1895. The school's mission was to equip girls with a well-rounded education that prioritized Christian values to better prepare them for the challenges of the twenty-first century. Known as "Akaroa," the school's original structure housed a sizable classroom, an office, and boarding quarters. The original classroom, now known as the "W.H. Lee Room" after the school's architect, is utilized for meetings and events. Today, the building serves as the administration center for the school.
They at NEGS Armidale abide by Florence Green's proverb, which reads, "A school is but a miniature of the world." They value the individual stories of each kid and celebrate variety. Students from different ethnicities and backgrounds can thrive in our caring atmosphere. Encouraging children to pursue their hobbies, interests, and skills while building a strong sense of support and belonging is their aim. They value each student's ability, resilience, and personal development in our close-knit NEGS family. The values that they uphold are as follows:
Excellence
Integrity
Responsibility
Teamwork
