A group of local churchgoers organised a committee to start Northampton High School GDST in 1878. A majority of the Governors were subsequently appointed by the Board of Education of the Diocese of Peterborough which afterwards took control of the organisation. The school later changed to a grammar school with direct grants. However, the school became independent after the direct grant system was abolished in the 1970s. Northampton High School GDST is a community that honours its traditions while taking a forward-looking attitude to all element of their students' educational experience. It is a school with 145 years of history yet is housed in a purpose-built modern structure.
Northampton High School GDST encourage students confidence, provide her with food for thought, and offer her room to grow by valuing each individual.
