School History & Details

Nottingham High School was established in 1513 and has a long history filled with notable individuals and incredible feats. Dame Agnes Mellers established the school as the "Free School," and it was housed in St. Mary's Church in the Lace Market. King Henry VIII gave the School's Foundation Charter. The School was constructed and inaugurated in its present Arboretum Street location. The Free Grammar School was replaced by Nottingham High School.
