The remarkable history of Old Palace dates back to the ninth century. Few schools can claim to have a classroom that was formerly the sleeping quarters of Queen Elizabeth I. The school was established in 1889 and is still going strong today. In 1993, the school changed its name to Old Palace of John Whitgift School and joined the John Whitgift Foundation.
Students at Old Palace of John Whitgift School are able to develop into capable, confident, and connected adults who are well-positioned for a fruitful and fulfilling future. This is known as the 3Cs. Through both the development of their own independent study skills and the outstanding instruction offered at the school, their pupils become competent in their academic disciplines. Because of all the wonderful pastoral care and support that Old Palace staff members offer, both inside and outside of the classroom, their students' confidence continues to build during their time here. The lower class sizes at the school are advantageous to the students, who also feel instantly at home in the Old Palace family. The several form and House activities as well as extracurricular activities offer more chances to feel a part of the school community
