In order to concentrate on A Level retake courses and Easter revision techniques, the Director of Studies at Wolsey Hall College, Oxford, founded Wolsey Hall Tutorial College in Gloucester Green in 1988. There are 40 domestic students in the inaugural intake. The College changes its name to Oxford Tutorial College in 1990 and relocates to King Edward Street. At this time, the College also starts to accept students from other countries. In order to handle the expanding student body, the Alfred Street building is added to the campus in 2007. In 2010, Oxford Tutorial College's ownership changes, and it joins the Oxford International Education Group.
The Oxford Sixth Form College takes a very different approach than a regular institution. Their goal is to offer an alternative to the norm is the defining characteristic of the Oxford Sixth Form College learning environment. The College has a culture that values effort and a developing sense of responsibility in a welcoming setting. They approach each of their students as an individual, from the initial meeting with a student at an admissions interview to determine their objectives and motivation to offering clear, constructive assistance, including individual study plans, throughout their time with in the school.
