Located on the edge of the Papakura Military Camp, the school was first established in 1953 as Papakura North School. Our official name was changed to "Papakura Normal School" in 1958 when we were formally associated with Ardmore Teachers College. A complete primary school called Papakura Normal School is located in Papakura, about 30 kilometers south of Auckland City. We serve ākonga/learners (children aged 5 to 12) in Years 1 through 8. The French word "normale," which means "teaching school," was represented by the English "Normal." Around that time, a "school within a school" model was established on the grounds and run independently. The purpose of this was to provide student teachers a chance to observe instruction in a small, rural setting.
To motivate and empower youth to move forward into the future, prepared to face the obstacles that lie ahead. A well-equipped school that collaborates with the community and family to help learners fulfill their academic, cultural, and athletic potential.
