Papatoetoe Intermediate

Enrolment:-

At Papatoetoe Intermediate School, both local and international in-zone students we welcome applications. In 2023 due to our roll growth and again in 2024, it is unlikely that for 2024 and 2025 we will be accepting out-of-zone students.

An enrolment scheme in place in our school does have which defines our school zone. To those children and families who live within our school zone is our primary responsibility.

For the Pastoral Care of International Students, the Papatoetoe Intermediate School is a signatory of the Code of Practice. The school does not provide homestays.

From the school website, the enrolment application packs are available to download and year 6 students are also sent attending contributing primary schools around mid-year for the following year, etc.

• Enrolment Documentation
• 1. Completed Enrolment form (https://ole.edgelearning.co.nz/Default?schoolId=cb23d304-c28f-408e-990c-7416042baf53).
• 2. For the enrolling student please provide ONE of the following eligibility documents.
• a. NZ Citizen: NZ Birth Certificate (stating citizen at birth) OR Current NZ Passport OR NZ Citizenship Certificate.
• b. NZ Resident: Copy of passport and resident visa.
• c. Student Visa: Copy of current student visa and passport information AND Copy of one parents current work visa and passport information.
• 3. In the name of the legal guardian the proof of address. If applying in zone please provide TWO of the following. (Please note that the address that will be used for enrolment is the residential address of the LEGAL guardian).
• a. Homeowner: Copy of utility account (Power, Gas, Water rates, Council rates) (In the name of the legal guardian).
• b. Renting: Copy of Tenancy agreement (In the name of the legal guardian).
• c. Temp housing: Letter from Housing NZ or other relevant government agencies.
• One of these documents if you are unable to provide, to discuss what steps you need to take to apply in zone to school please contact the office.
• 4. Latest school report and any other relevant educational documentation.
• 5. Student Immunization Record and any other relevant health documents.
• 6. Custody/Protection order if applicable.
• In Zone
• The law requires that the school gives priority to enrolling students who live in our home zone. For the following year if you are applying please submit your application by the end of term 3 etc.
• Out of Zone
• Out of zone places, where available, according to the following priorities are offered:
• Priority 1: Special Programs approved by the Secretary of Education – Children who play an instrument as part of the Tironui Trust.
• Priority 2: Siblings of current students.
• Priority 3: Siblings of former students.
• Priority 4: Children of former students.
• Priority 5: Board of Trustees member children and/or School employee.
• Priority 6: All other applicants.
• Under Priority 4 (child of a former student) if the student is applying, at the school we then require proof of the parents’ attendance such as an old school report or photo.
• Where the places available the numbers of students exceed, according to the rules set down by the Secretary of Education a ballot will be held from the group with the lowest priority. By the cut off date provided by the ministry of education the out of zone applications must be lodged and after this date a ballot will be held. The out of zone applicants of the outcome of the ballot the letters notifying will be emailed out to families as soon as a decision has been made etc.

• To our school to apply out of zone, within the stated dates provided by the ministry of education you must apply. The cut off date if you miss and to our school out of zone would still like to apply, to discuss your options please contact the office.
