Filipino
Through the sponsorship and assistance of His Excellency Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali, Philippine Honorary Consul General, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE), the Filipino Overseas Workers came up with the idea for the Philippine School in 1989. On February 2, 1990, it was officially opened at its initial location in Al Wattayah. Philippine Community School (PCS) was its previous name.
The school's doors officially opened to 38 pupils in multi-level sessions conducted by volunteer teachers on February 17, 1990. The Pre-Elementary Level (Nursery, Kindergarten, and Preparatory) and the Elementary Level (Grades 1-6) were then both offered by the school. During its third year, the school relocated to a new, larger location in Al Khuwair. During its third year of operation, SY 1992-1993, the school relocated to new and larger premises in Al Khuwair. Six first-year high school students were enrolled as it began its secondary level. Once more, to accommodate the expanding population, the school relocated to another area of Ruwi. The purchase of the new PS site in Al Khuwair Heights was started in April 2005 by the Board of Directors from 2004 to 2006. A ceremony for breaking ground was held the next year, and work on the new structure got on right away. The Board of Directors worked to enable the move of the new school to the new location between 2006 and 2008, and courses began in June 2007.
The construction of learners' values and attitudes based on the vision, mission, and core values of the Philippine Schools must go hand in hand with the development of their cognitive competencies and skills.
