School History & Details

Plymouth College was founded in 1877 and later purchased Mannamead School, established in 1854, in 1896. Temporarily, it was referred to as Plymouth and Mannamead College. The institution began admitting female students to its sixth form in 1976 and became completely coeducational in 1995. St Dunstan's Abbey School, a girl's independent school established by Lydia Sellon, was integrated into Plymouth College in 2004. The Whiteworks Outward Bound Centre on Dartmoor, associated with the school, offers a 20-bed bunkhouse.
