Enrolling your Child at Ponsonby Primary School:-

The Ponsonby Primary School has an enrolment scheme, in the Ponsonby Primary School zone the student’s usual place of residence must be, unless, through an out-of-zone ballot, the student has been offered a place.

Any child is entitled to be enrolled unless from another school they have been indefinitely suspended. In this case, the individual case the board of trustees will meet and consider, and the enrolment they will either accept or decline.

When the student is enrolled, in the Ministry’s ENROL database their relevant details are recorded.

• In Zone
• As of right the following children will be accepted.
• Within the designated geographic boundaries of the school the children living. To view these streets and a map please contact the school.
• (In-zone the students living are asked to pre-enrol (when your child turns 4 is a great time), in planning for any out of zone placements to assist the school).

• Out of Zone
• In the following order of priority the applications from out of zone students will be processed.
• 1. To those students the First priority must be given who have been accepted for enrolment in the program(s) run by the school and by the Secretary for Education approved. Please note that any of these programs this school does not have.
• 2. To applicants who are siblings of current students the Second priority must be given.
• 3. To applicants who are siblings of former students the Third priority must be given.
• 4. To any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school the Fourth priority must be given.
• 5. To any applicant who is either a child of a member of the board of the school or a child of an employee of the board of the school the Fifth priority must be given.
• 6. To all other applicants the Sixth priority must be given.

• Application Procedure
• At Ponsonby Primary School, when you apply for information about enrolling your child please,
• 1. Fill in and send:
• a. A copy of the Application to enrol as an international Student.
• b. A copy of your child’s passport.
• c. A copy of the parents passport.
• 2. The school then:
• a. Check to see if they have a place for your child.
• b. Verify your child's eligibility to attend.
• c. Arrange a short tour of the school (if required).
• 3. If the school offer you enrolment, they:
• a. Complete and send you the Offer of Place form.
• b. Send you a tax invoice for fees.
• c. Send you the Prospectus.
• 4. Once the school have received payment of the fees they will:
• a. Send you a tax receipt.
• b. Ask for a copy of your Health Insurance.
• c. Make sure you have a copy of the Agreement to Provide Tuition Services for you to read, sign, and return to the school.
• d. Book an enrolment meeting with the School.
• Your child must be living with a parent, for acceptance on the roll of Ponsonby Primary School.
• For a visa naming Ponsonby Primary School you must apply to the New Zealand Immigration Service (2 to 3 weeks this may take).
• At Ponsonby Primary before your child starts you must contact the school and with the school arrange an enrolment meeting. At this meeting, the school will (if they have not already received them):
• 1. Take a photocopy of the study visa.
• 2. Take a copy of your health insurance.
• 3. Ensure the enrolment form is complete.
• 4. Receive a signed copy of the agreement to provide tuition services.
• 5. Confirm the start date and (provisional) placement for the student.
• 6. Tell you about Ponsonby Primary School and our expectations.
• 7. Answer any questions you may have.
