Bishop Baines, a Benedictine, founded Prior Park College as a seminary. It was the first Catholic College in England, established in 1830. It is still a Catholic school today, offering coeducational education in an ecumenical and Catholic tradition to students ages 11 to 18. Every child at Prior Park is respected, known, and loved. Every youngster in Prior Park, a diverse neighbourhood, finds their path to a successful and happy life.
With a deep affection for the young people they serve at its core, the aim of Prior Park Schools is to shepherd a healthy family of communities, grounded in common values. These dynamic communities change people's lives, encourage honesty, and nurture creativity. This acknowledges the College's distinctively Catholic Christian identity. The College's motto, "Deo duce, Deo luce" (God our guide, God our light), places a premium on God's love. All children are trying to figure out who they are and what kind of grownup they want to be. Schools are a part in this process. Great schools, such as Prior Park, support the children in discovering their own selves and the kind of adult they want to become.
