School History & Details

Queenstown Secondary School (QTSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Queenstown, Singapore. It is one of the 28 schools selected by the Ministry of Education to start piloting aspects of Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) from 2020 onwards. This includes reorganised form classes of varying academic abilities (Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical)).

QTSS was established in 1956 as Queenstown Secondary Technical School. It was renamed Queenstown Secondary School in January 1993. From December 1993 to June 1997, it occupied temporary premises while the buildings at Strathmore Road were renovated and upgraded.

The school's motto is "Excellence with Character". Its school colours are blue and maroon.

Queenstown Secondary School has a long and proud history of academic and co-curricular achievements. Here are some of their notable achievements: Academically: The school has consistently produced students who have attained good grades in the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ('O') Level examinations. In 2022, the school's average 'O' Level pass rate was 93.5%, with 27 students achieving the top 5% of the cohort. The school has also produced a number of students who have been awarded scholarships to study at prestigious universities around the world. Co-curricularly: The school has a strong track record in sports, uniformed groups, and performing arts. In recent years, the school has won a number of medals at the National School Games, including gold medals in basketball, table tennis, and wushu. The school's uniformed groups have also won a number of awards, including the Girl Guides Puan Noor Aishah Honour Award and the NPCC Unit Overall Proficiency Award. The school's performing arts groups have also been successful, with the choir and drama club winning awards at the National Schools Arts Festival.

The school's National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) unit won the Overall Proficiency Award at the 2022 National NPCC Competition. Performing arts: The school's choir won the gold medal in the Open Choir category at the 2022 National Schools Arts Festival. The school's drama club won the silver medal in the Open Drama category at the 2022 National Schools Arts Festival.
