Rockport School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2.5 to 18. It follows the British Public School tradition. It is located on 25 acres (10 ha) of woods on the shore of Belfast Lough at Craigavad, near Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, between Belfast and Bango. The school was founded in 1906 by Geoffrey Bing of Rossall School and Keble College, Oxford, with the initial goal of "preparing boys for the Public Schools and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth." Bing, 29, had previously taught at St George's, Broadstairs, and St Andrew's School, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells. Rockport began with only four boys, an assistant master, and a matron, but swiftly expanded in size. The school today has over 300 students and welcomes both boys and girls between the ages of three and eighteen as day or boarding students. The school celebrated its hundredth year in 2006 by establishing a new arts complex.
