In 1924, Rougemont School was established in the 'Rougemont' home on Clevedon Road in Newport. After Mr. and Mrs. Evans purchased it in 1931 and expanded into the home next door, the school developed a reputation for solid instruction in the 3Rs and was focused on preparing students for admittance to grammar schools. Three to eighteen year olds can receive an education at the institution. Sims served as the school's principal when it relocated in 1992 to Llantarnam Hall, a sizable Victorian estate situated on 50 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newport.

With the greatest academic results in South East Wales once more in 2023, The Rougemont School's high academic standards place us among the top 5 schools in the nation according to Sunday Times Parent Power.  Additionally, Rougemont School was hailed by The Telegraph as the "best value Prep School in Wales" in 2020, honours that we are really happy to hold.

All of Rougemont School's students participate in sport on a regular basis, both in and outside of the classroom.  Every degree of opportunity exists, and team sports balance individual accomplishments. In addition to their sports hall, the expansive grounds include four football and rugby fields, netball courts, tennis courts, a mile-long cross-country course, cricket nets, golf bays, and a fully stocked gym.
