Ruthin School formed its existence in 1284 when Edward 1 built a castle which was later assimilated by St Peter's Church. In 1547, Elizabeth I refounded Ruthin School as a center of academic excellence in North Wales. In the early 1890s, the school was honored by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and King Charles also visited the school. In 1893, the main school building was built and was designed by Architect John Douglas. As time passes the school is associated with a variety of recognized national organizations so that the school can maintain the highest standards and provide students with a quality education.
