Sainik School Goalpara, Assam, India, was founded on November 12, 1964, by the Sainik School Society in New Delhi under the Ministry of Defence (India).V.K. Menon, then Defence Minister, proposed the idea of Sainik schools in 1961. The school was constructed at Goalpara, which serves as the district headquarters. The school was later relocated to its current location in Rajapara Village, Mornai, Goalpara District. Initially, 18 Sainik schools were established.
