The Sainik School One of 33 Sainik Schools in India is located in Kapurthala. The school was established in July 1961 by V.K. Krishna Menon, the defense minister at the time, with the goal of preparing boys and girls for admission to Khadakwasla's National Defence Academy. "Knowledge, Humility, and Discipline" is its motto. It is a public school that is exclusively for boys and is totally residential. With the National Defence Academy, it has produced over 1150 officers for the Indian armed forces.
