Lt Gen Subrata Saha, PVSM UYSM YSM VSM** from the 1974 batch, rose to the position of Deputy Chief of Army Staff. He is the first person from the School to earn the rank of Lieutenant General. He has the distinction of being the General Officer Commanding 15 Corps in Kashmir. He was successful in carrying out amazing rescue and relief activities after the Kashmir floods in 2014, as well as providing much-needed security during the Assembly Elections in 2014. He is the only Indian Army officer who has attended and graduated from Staff College Camberley in the United Kingdom, as well as the US Army War College.
