School History & Details

Kirkham Grammar School is a day school with the distinctive feature of having one single co-educational boarding house for students between the ages of 11 to 18, making it unique amongst independent schools in the country.  Around 90 pupils can be accommodated comfortably in this boarding facility, and the demand for places is always high, with interest from both domestic and international students. Hence, it's recommended that interested families register their details at the earliest opportunity. The boarding house is operated similar to a typical family home and prioritizes the safety, well-being, and academic achievement of its residents. To ensure the pupils' comfort, we continually refurbish the facilities, creating a real home-like atmosphere. Study facilities are provided for all boarders and they are also invited to add their own personal touch to their rooms. The ultimate aim is to establish a secure, supportive and pleasant environment where pupils can thrive academically.  The boarding house has a distinctive feel and is overseen by experienced and committed staff. Boarding house prefects are appointed each year to assist with daily operations. The House Captains work closely with the staff to facilitate this work, offering older students the chance to cultivate valuable management and leadership skills, setting them up for success later in life.
