In Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Second Philippine International School (SPIS) is a non-profit, self-supporting educational facility that provides services to all dependents of overseas Filipino workers.
It was conceived on December 24th, 1998, thanks to the charitable work of Epifania B. Bagalawis, Marilou Rosca Araneta, and Carina Marilyn R. Fredeluces.
The school was endorsed to the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom (MOE) and the Department of Education (DepEd) and was granted a permit to operate on September 19, 1999, with a Preliminary Licence No. 14/G, reference number 1943/ 420, with the help of the Philippine Embassy through Minister Counsellor Mariana A. Dumia and other various Filipino communities.
The Second Philippine International School (SPIS) seeks to give Filipino students in Riyadh a high-quality education. It aims to create disciplined, intelligent, patriotic, independent, God-loving, creative, and productive individuals who can contribute to their society when they return home.
