School History & Details

Sembawang's housing estate began to grow in the late 1990s. Sembawang Secondary School was created in January 1999 to address the needs of the community. While the new building was being built, the pioneering batch of Secondary 1 classes and school employees were temporarily housed at Woodlands Ring Secondary School. Education Minister Tony Tan proclaimed the school open on August 25, 2001. The school celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2008. Lim Wee Kiak, Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, helped the school unveil a commemorative sculpture in the school's entryway.
