Shrewsbury House School, one of the oldest boys' preparatory schools in England, was founded in 1865 and recently commemorated 150 years of teaching boys. The school was named after the Wilson family's connection to the town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire and was first established by local clergyman Henry Wilson in the heart of Surbiton. The School relocated to 'Haulkerton,' a spacious Victorian 'Arts and Crafts' home situated on Ditton Hill, in 1910. The main home, now affectionately called the "Grand Lady on the Hill," was renamed Shrewsbury home.
Everything is infused with the Shrewsbury House values of respect, tenacity, integrity, compassion, and aspiration. The school's slogan, Alto Peto, is also evident, encouraging students to set lofty goals for themselves. To thrive in a world that is changing, they want to create learners who are autonomous, inquisitive, and passionate.
