A theologian named Harry Cullberg founded Sigtunaskolan, the other boarding school in Sigtuna, and Bishop Manfred Björkquist founded Sigtunastiftelsens Humanistiska Läroverk, which dates back to the mid-1920s.
On the hill on the western side of Sigtuna, where Sigtunastiftelsens Humanistiska Läroverk once stood, the two schools combined to become Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket in 1980.
The school's over 100-year-old assembly hall, known as Aula (formerly the sports hall), caught fire and burned down on the night of February 28 and March 1, 2021.
Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL) was founded with the recognition that all people are entitled to equal rights and based on human compassion. As a result, we strongly oppose all forms of prejudice and repression and advocate for tolerance and love for those who are weak.
