A dedicated Independent School is Singapore Sports School. On April 2, 2004, Mr. Goh Chok Tong, Singapore's second Prime Minister, formally opened it. It is the only school in Singapore that provides a world-class atmosphere and integrated academic and sports programs to select adolescents. The sole secondary and post-secondary school in Singapore, Singapore Sports School was founded primarily to support aspiring national athletes in their pursuit of athletic excellence through top-notch sports training while taking advantage of academic programs that are athlete-friendly and lead to internationally recognized certifications. Talented athletes are given the information, skills, and values necessary to become champions in sports, champions for sports, and champions in life through our athletic, academic, and student development programs. Along with the GCE O- and N-Levels certification, it is the only local institution to provide the Extended International Baccalaureate Diploma, two specially designed polytechnic diplomas, and the Extended International Baccalaureate.
