SJI International Elementary School debuted in 2008 after SJI International High School opened its doors in 2007. They are part of a network of seven Lasallian schools in Singapore that have been operating since 1852. For a group of SJI Alumni, realizing the mission of SJI International was a work of love. They looked for a means to give Singaporean and foreign students the same transformative education they had at Saint Joseph's Institution (SJI), one of Singapore's oldest and most prestigious institutions.

In 2009, SJI received the School Excellence Award (SEA), which is the highest and most prestigious award under the Masterplan of Awards structure instituted in 1998 by the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Having a long-standing relationship with SJI International as a graduate or past student, faculty member, or staff member. When a student or faculty member departs SJI International, they automatically become a part of the alumni association. a recently developed online directory and professional network that unites supporters, past employees, and alumni of SJI International. Access volunteer, mentor, and career opportunities look up old friends and coworkers, and register for events and reunions. Social media accounts for former students of SJI International are often updated.
