Since the Foundation was established in 1560 with the chantry revenues of the Chapels of St. Mary and St. Katherine in the Parish Church of St. Alphege, Solihull has been in continuous existence. In the beginning, the Master of the Free Grammar School in Solihull was maintained by the Foundation. The school relocated to a home on Park Road in 1615, and it was subsequently called Malvern House. That was where it stayed until 1882. The school relocated to its current 40-acre location in 1882. The original schoolhouse on this property, known as School House, was built to house 20 boarders and 80 day boys. The Saint Martin's campus is home to Solihull Senior School (grades 11–18) and Solihull Preparatory School (ages 3–11).
Solihull Preparatory School value and impart skills such as cultivating resilience, fostering mindfulness, fostering strong relationships and healthy emotions, improving their kids' relationships with challenge and difficulty, nurturing the capacity to accept and adapt to change, and teaching them what it takes to be well and stay well. In the hopes that kids will fully integrate this into their conception of what it is to live a life well lived, they are also devoted to teaching them about actions that benefit others.
