Founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy, St Brigid's College initially served as an extension of their convent and college in West Perth, both named in honor of Saint Brigid of Kildare. The construction of the campus began in 1913, intended for Archibald and Maude Sanderson, and was first utilized as a private day and boarding school accommodating around 20 students. After World War I ended in 1919, the buildings were acquired by the Red Cross, who then rented it to the Repatriation Department for the rehabilitation of sick and injured soldiers. This period saw the completion of the buildings and the planting of oak trees sourced from Windsor Castle within the school's grounds. In 1929, the property briefly served as a convalescent home for the Perth Hospital before being purchased by the Sisters of Mercy for A£9,000. This acquisition was led by the Congregational Superior, Reverend Mother Brigid Watson. On April 21, 1929, Mother Teresa Rielly, along with seven other Sisters, welcomed the first enrollees to the school, comprising 35 boarders and 3 day students. The Heritage Council of Western Australia recognized the historical significance of St Brigid's College by listing it in the Register of Heritage Places in 2005.
