When a mother approached Miss Phyllis Burden in 1940 about tutoring her daughter, Miss Burden advised the mother that she needed to locate more students. On September 23, 1941, St. Francis School was established in the Old Pewsey Rectory with only four students. As enrollment grew, the school relocated to more larger quarters in Pewsey High Street. The school expanded and relocated to the current location, Haybrook House, in 1984. A charity trust was established, and in 1990 it bought Travancore House, the neighbouring house. The Kennet and Avon Canal borders the school's seventeen acres of beautiful Wiltshire scenery in the Pewsey Vale to the north.

All of this takes place on 17 acres of beautiful grounds where our kids may run, climb, explore, and grow in the openness and splendour of our natural world. They raise remarkable kids that make us extremely proud with a customised approach and many opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, and character. They have an 80-year history of giving our kids "the best" and a long list of accomplishments.
