In 1869, St George's College in West Croydon was established by Constant Van Crombrugghe, but it had just five pupils when it first opened. Education pioneer Van Crombrugghe placed a strong emphasis on the development of the child and the realisation of each person's potential. These ideas were revolutionary in their day but now form the basis of authentic education. With a steady increase in enrollment, the school was moved to the Woburn Park estate in 1884, where it is still today.
