St. George’s The British International School Cologne Admissions Process is as mentioned below and the steps outlined below are only a guide and depending on your circumstances may vary.

• 1. School Visit
• A visit to the school is typically the first step. To gain further insight into the school and our community this gives you the opportunity and with key members of staff to meet, including the relevant Heads of Department and the School Director. To speak with you personally our registrar will also take time and guide you through the remaining steps in the process. Although a school visit is highly recommended, to submit an application form without having visited the school it is of course possible.
• 2. Trial Day
• To get a better feeling for life in our school if your child would like, then for a trial day we happily welcome children of all ages. During this time, a typical day at school they get to spend, meeting their potential future classmates and teachers. By no means this is a mandatory part of the process, but to help the transition to a new school is a great way, which for every young person is a big step.
• 3. Placement Test
• To sit a placement test we ask children entering the school from age 7 upwards. To establish your child’s strengths and learning needs this helps us, so that to support your child’s development we can best tailor courses. From testing should any concerns arise, personally we will discuss these with you. Into the secondary school for entrance, and on to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program most importantly acceptance, a certain level of English, as well as other subject specific skills, are required.
• 4. School Records
• To provide details of your child's current school records or most recent reports we also ask you, to gain a better understanding of your child’s progress in education so far. This is of course not necessary for the youngest pupils, and in exceptional circumstances in the primary school the records are typically only requested. The school records are requested in all cases for Secondary age children.
• 5. Place Confirmation
• A place offer will be made following testing, and dependent on place availability. At this point, for a completed application form and documentation we ask. The place is confirmed following receipt of these, as well as our application fee. Please be aware that there is a high demand for places at certain times of the year, and between place offer and receipt of the application a delay may result in disappointment.
