St Helen's School, founded in 1903, and St Katharine's School, established in 1894, both served to provide Christian education for young girls. These institutions, run by the Community of St Mary the Virgin, held a significant reputation for being progressive in their approach to teaching, with a strong emphasis on the development of the mind and spirit of the students. Eventually, in 1938, the two schools came together to create one of the most exceptional institutions of its kind - St Helen & St Katharine.
