Founded in 1924, St. Helen's College was a private school for girls between the ages of 4 and 16. Mrs Hempstead, who had by now succeeded the founding Heads, transferred the school to 223 Long Lane where classes continued during the war years after the original school building at 281 Long Lane was bombed during World War II. In 1948, the school relocated to its current location on Parkway, started accepting boys, and limited student enrollment to 11 years old. After retiring, Mrs. Hempstead kept an eye on the school's advancement until her passing in 2010 at the ripe age of 103.
Both students and staff at St. Helen's College are encouraged to pursue academic success, conscious self-awareness, and creative self-development. It is a welcoming, joyful, and energetic community of students, faculty, and families where teaching by example, love, and respect are valued highly. Their fundamental values - love, harmony, spirituality, and growth—are at its centre.
