Since its founding in 1877, St. Leonard's has been at the forefront of education in Scotland and the UK. St. Leonards has always exhibited a progressive spirit, from its beginnings as a groundbreaking school for girls to its rebirth as a fully co-educational school offering cutting-edge credentials like the International Baccalaureate. St Leonard's School for Girls changed its name to St Leonards in 1883 and relocated to the large plot of land. The campus has a long history because it was once a school. When St Leonards Sixth Form initially welcomed boys in 1999, the institution quickly transitioned to being entirely co-ed.
St. Leonard's School think that education should be a holistic experience that focuses on the growth of the whole person rather than just imparting academic knowledge. The experience at the school is valued for what it is on its own terms where students gain skills and confidence that will help them throughout their life, as well as where they can benefit from being a part of a varied, supportive, and inclusive community.
