St. Martin's School, an independent, coed preparatory school, was established in 1920 in a mansion in Langley Park, on the bank of a brook that flowed into Silk brook and down to The Broadway. Sadly, it was subsequently destroyed during the bombs in the 1940s. St. Martin's School eventually outgrown the space and relocated to its current location in Goodwyn Avenue, Mill Hill.
