St. Mary private School- Ras Al Khaimah

The St. Mary private School- Ras Al Khaimah application process takes place in five steps and those are as mentioned below:

Step 1: Registration -

The online registration & interest form has to be filled.

Step 2: Application -
Parents need to complete an application form & attach few documents. Once the parents receive the fully completed application form with all the requested documents.

Supporting Documents
When a registration is submitted the supporting documents that are required are:
a. Student Birth Certificate Copy.
b. Student Passport Copy.
c. Student Visa Copy
d. Emirates Card Emirates ID Copy (both sides) of the student.
e. Parents (Mother and Father) Passport Copies.
f. Parents (Mother and Father)  Emirates ID Copy (both sides).
g. 4 recent Passport size photographs.
h. Vaccinations Certificate Copy.
j. Copy of the most Recent School report/nursery (previous 2 years).
k. Any medical letters or assessments.
l. Any professional agency reports such as behaviour, psychological, speech therapy etc.
m. Family Book (UAE Citizens only).
n. For Grade 9 / Year 10 and above, if the Certificate is issued from outside the country then it needs to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & the UAE Embassy of the issuing country. Please complete the online application form.

Transfer Certificates
According to UAE MOE, every student is required to produce a Transfer Certificate (TC) from their last school. This is strictly enforced and to produce a properly completed certificate, if there is a failure, or to produce all the necessary documentation a legally binding undertaking, will result in the child's place being withdrawn.

On an official school letterhead (The child’s current school) the Transfer Certificate (TC) must be.

a. The form needs to be completed on the student’s last day of attendance.
b. It must be signed by the Principal and show an official school stamp.
c. The original certificate must be presented on the first day of school at SMR.

The following information the original Transfer Certificate (TC) must contain:

1. Full Name of Child.
2. Date of Birth.
3. Commencement Date at School
4. Grade/Class on Leaving.
5. Leaving Date at School.
6. Curriculum Used.

Outside the UAE if the student was previously studying, from the following authorities the transfer certificate must be attested:

a. Ministry of Education (from country of TC origin).
b. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from country of TC origin).
c. UAE Embassy (from country of TC origin).

From schools within the UAE for students transferring, Transfer Certificate approved by a Ministry of Education is issued.

At the time of admission in between the original Transfer Certificate must be submitted. The student cannot be admitted without a Transfer Certificate.

Step 3: Screening -
Assessments
All applications are subject to further assessment as part of the screening process in addition to reviewing application forms and associated documentation. Every child is screened to ensure that the school can meet the needs of every student. Depending on which stage the students are applying for this is different:

FOUNDATION STAGE 1 & 2:
To determine the child's readiness for school an in-class play-based assessment. On the child's personal, communication and language skills, social and emotional development, and some consideration of their physical development the assessment will focus etc.

YEAR 1 & 2:
To determine the child’s readiness for school an in-class play-based assessment and for mathematics and English a basic skills assessment.

YEAR 3 - 9:
Using the Cognitive Ability Test 4 (CAT 4) a more formal assessment, in a supervised environment, which around 2 hours will last.

YEAR 10: 
Using the Cognitive Ability Test 4 (CAT 4) a more formal assessment, in a supervised environment, which around 2 hours will last. The students will be required to write an essay of 500 words or more on a given title in addition to the CAT 4.

MEETING: Following the assessment, with the respective Head of Early Years; Head of Primary or Head of Secondary the parents and students will need to meet and to discuss the outcomes of the assessments and to find out about the student a little bit more.

Step 4: Decision -
Following the screening process the school will contact the parents with the outcome:
1. Application rejected.
2. Application approved and an offer made.
To accept the offer the parents will be given 7 working days; make the payment and sign the school- home agreement form. The offer will be withdrawn if in case failing to do so.

Step 5: Enrolled -
The school will send a welcome pack with key information and dates once all the payments have been made and school-home agreement signed.
When the Transfer Certificate has been received the enrollment will be complete.
