Serving the Catholic community in and around Northcote for a very long time is the proud legacy of St. Mary's School. Among the oldest parishes in Auckland's North Shore is St. Mary's Parish. The Dominican sisters on Onewa Road opened the first Catholic convent in 1933. In 1953, the nuns started a secondary school. The high school relocated to Henderson in 1967 as a result of growing responsibility and a shortage of space for growth. The new church was dedicated in 1969 after the old one was replaced due to an increase in the parish's membership. In 1988, the parish hall was inaugurated. The old high school was converted into De Paul House in 1970. De Paul House has been offering family support services and lodging since 1986. It meets the needs of families experiencing homelessness. Families of various ethnicities and religions are welcome at De Paul House. The school and De Paul House have a cordial relationship. In October 2016, St. Mary's School underwent a significant reconstruction.
The Mercy and Dominican ideals of Unity, Respect, Compassion, and Truth are upheld at the institution. With the help of the Catholic charism, we make an effort to grow spiritually, learn new things, and serve others.
