School History & Details

The inception of St Paul's College in Walla Walla, NSW, is deeply rooted in the community's early settlers' commitment to education and religion. Initially, these Lutheran settlers founded a day school alongside their church. However, this initial venture into education was brief, as they transferred the school to the control of the NSW Department of Public Instruction in 1885. The community's enduring aspiration for Christian secondary education prompted Pastor JTP Stolz to strategize the establishment of a new institution. This vision came to fruition on Tuesday, February 10, 1948, when St Paul's College welcomed its first cohort of 28 students, with Werner Hebart at the helm as the founding headmaster. Among these students, 13 were boarders, accommodated by local households in the community.
