For students ages 3 to 14, St. Paul's is an independent, non-selective, and non-religious school. St Paul's Steiner Project, founded in 1994, leased the structure for use as a school beginning in 1995.  The building was initially planned to be renovated as a location for a Steiner Waldorf school and a hub for the neighborhood's lifelong learning.

When a child turns six and enters class one after kindergarten, formal education begins. Currently, St. Paul's Steiner School has eight classes that serve students in Lower and Middle School up to the age of 14. The academic excellence and record of St. Paul's are well-known. 20% of students in mathematics and 33% of students in reading scored above average in February 2023.
