In October 2001 the Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha (SSLSD) was inaugurated, under the patronage of H.E. Meerasahib Mahroof, then Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar. H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar is the Patron of the school. By a Board of Trustees, the school is governed.
From Lower Reception to Advanced Level, the SSLSD now offers education. The Edexcel Curriculum the school follows. For the Key Stage I & II (SAT) examinations administered by Edexcel U.K the students in Year 2 & Year 6 sit.
By the Supreme Education Council of Qatar, the SSLSD is an approved educational institute and is known as the Sri Lankan Community School. By Edexcel International (UK) the school is also an Approved Examination Centre which grants the students to sit for the Edexcel IGCSE and GCE examinations. In the beginning, with 25 students the school was a nursery and it has vastly progressed over the years.
Independent learning in Lower Reception Classes the Montessori methods are used to enhance as it invites the children to engage in learning activities of their own choice, under the guidance and expertise of their teachers. Through discovery the children in the Lower Reception learn, using the materials to cultivate ideas and self-discipline.
With well-qualified and experienced teachers the SSLSD is blessed to train and guide the children.
In every aspect the SSLSD strives to achieve excellence; in the end, successful men and women students become contributing towards the betterment of society.
Their vision is to produce globally eminent men and women who for their academic excellence are held in high esteem and the strength of character with high ideals and responsibilities.
And the mission is that within a spirit of nationalism and internationalism develop all the students, through the medium of English, giving them the knowledge, attitudes, and skills essential to enable them to be useful citizens of society.
In both curricular and co-curricular activities the entire education program includes a focus on the four pillars of education for the 21st century as expounded by UNESCO; Learning to live, Learning to do, Learning to know, and Learning to be, etc.
