School History & Details

Takapuna Grammar officially opened its doors in 1927, however, the school's foundation stone was set on April 6, 1926. Under the Auckland Grammar Schools' Board, Takapuna Grammar School was the first coeducational institution. In 1955, the school formed its board of governors. The motto "Per Angusta Ad Augusta" and the Auckland Grammar Lion were maintained by the school ("Through endeavor to greatness").
