School History & Details

The American School of Bangkok is an international school in Bangkok, Thailand, and a member of the International Schools Association of Thailand. The school has two campuses: Sukhumvit in Bangkok's Watthana District and Bangna in Samut Prakan Province's Bang Phli District. ASB was founded in 1983 and is certified by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the Thai Ministry of Education, and the Thai Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA). The school has students from 50 different countries. Students follow a US curriculum that includes inquiry-based learning in middle school, project-based learning in middle school, and advanced placement (AP) subjects in high school. ASB is an AP school, and the school orders and prepares AP tests for students who attend other institutions as part of its community outreach program. The school also follows the IB curriculum.

The golf team of ASB Green Valley is well-known. A junior world champion and eight national winners make up the school team. Students can start learning golf at the age of five years. The school participates in various sports and is a member of the Bangkok International Schools Athletic Conference (BISAC) and the Thailand International Schools Athletic Conference (TISAC). The ASB basketball team (particularly the varsity team) has won titles and tournaments. ASB also participates in sports such as baseball and football, with the baseball teams winning tournaments. ASB emphasizes community involvement and charitable fund-raising events, such as the yearly Sukhumvit Fair, which has raised funds for causes in Thailand and around the world.
