Arshia Jacob, a student from the 2012 batch, was allowed to work with SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy), a Boeing 747SP modified to accommodate a 2.7-meter (106-inch) reflecting telescope. During her regular 10-hour SOFIA flights, Arshia was able to observe the solar system and beyond.
