Under the direction of the then-current British Consul, a group of foreign parents established the English School Fahaheel in 1968.
The school welcomed a small number of international students the same year it received recognition from Kuwait's Ministry of Education's Private Education Department.
A corporate school founded in Ahmadi by the Kuwait Oil corporate for the children of its employees was the only school in South Kuwait at the time offering an English education. In 1970, this business school was shut down.
At The English School Fahaheel, a block of classrooms and an assembly hall were constructed, enabling spots to be provided to a fraction of Kuwait Oil Company students in September 1970.
By the end of 1976, it was clear that more development would soon be required due to the constant growth in the number of English-speaking expatriates living in Kuwait. The main building's upper level was added in 1978, greatly boosting the amount of available student space.
Till the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, development and expansion were unchecked. The Iraqi army that was occupying the school used it as a command post and burned or plundered all of the furniture, books, and other valuables. The school's owner, Mr. Ibrahim Shuhaiber M.Sc., was keen to see it flourish once more once Kuwait was liberated in 1991. As the British Army soldiers in Kuwait participated in removing explosives and ordnance from the surrounding region and beach, a significant cleanup effort got underway.
The English School Fahaheel quickly reclaimed its place as one of Kuwait's top English schools and achieved academic success.
