The Gower School Nursery in multi-age classes, they provide a broad curriculum that aims to develop the full person—their mind, body, heart, and soul. They impart lifelong intellectual, social, and other valuable skills. Their aim is for both our girls and boys to grow into self-assured, content, and enthusiastic learners. They follow the Montessori concept of education, which promotes respect for the uniqueness of each child, fostering of their environment, and independence, rather than bureaucratic directive. They also support gratifying activities that do not maintain the arbitrary boundaries between "work" and "play." In our experience, encouraging peer competition has less of an impact on academic achievement and the holistic development of a child than fostering an internal desire for self-improvement.
