School History & Details

The Hamilton And Alexandra College was established as a mixed-gender institution in 1962 through the merger of the Hamilton and Western District Boys' College, established in 1871, and Alexandra College, established in 1872. For the majority of its history following the merger, the institution was known as Hamilton College. In the early 2000s, the school's name was changed to The Hamilton And Alexandra College to acknowledge its heritage and connection to Alexandra College, the predecessor school for girls. In 2023, Mr. Michael Horne took over as the Principal of the College.
