Established in 1897, the Scindia School is a private residential school for boys located in Gwalior's old Fort. The Scindia School was founded exclusively for royals and nobles of Indian princely kingdoms, particularly the Marathas, although it currently serves all classes. In 1897, Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia of Gwalior established the Scindia School, originally known as the Sardar School. It was intended just for the sons of Indian kings and nobility. In 1933, it was renamed "The Scindia School" and became a public institution with a Board of Governors, which is currently led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, a Scindia family scion.
