School History & Details

Located on a 30-acre campus, the coeducational Thomas Adams School was founded in 1976 to serve all children in Wem and the neighbouring communities. It was created by combining several nearby schools that had been operating since Sir Thomas Adams established the Free School of Wem in 1650. Situated on a single, expansive campus, the two primary locations are roughly five minutes' walk apart. The Lowe Hill buildings offer first-rate facilities for all subject areas and serve students in the 11–16 age range.

  • Resilience
  • Individualism
  • Respect
  • The mission of Thomas Adams School is to enable every student, regardless of background, to reach their full potential and become fully engaged members of their families, communities, and society. While passing exams is undoubtedly important, this should not be limited to it. Instead, it should encompass success in all other domains, such as the capacity to learn new things, solve issues, become resilient, and become engaged, informed citizens ready for life in contemporary Britain. To foster an environment that values democracy and the rule of law while encouraging tolerance, individualism, and respect for one another.
