Tzu Chi International School sprang out of Tzu Chi's Da Ai Kindergarten, which opened in Kuala Lumpur in 2007. Tzu Chi promotes mindful education, adhering to Master Cheng Yen's theory of nurturing and instilling humanistic values in students through a comprehensive education system that extends from preschool through higher education. TCISKL is open to both local and international students of all races, faiths, and backgrounds ages 4 to 19. It offers an internationally recognized Cambridge IGCSE or A-level curriculum which is supplemented by Tzu Chi's humanistic lessons. While classes are held in Mandarin and English, Bahasa Malaysia is also taught so that students can become fluent in all three languages. The school educates students from pre-school through pre-university. Science, Arts, and Business Studies subjects are available to pupils beginning in Form 4 onwards.
